Slowly, Slowly

Says the nun.

“Everything you do. When you walk. When you stand up. When you sit down. When you switch your legs. Try to do it slowly. “

As I leave the temple I notice myself walking quickly.

Immediately I say to myself,

“Slowly, Slowly.”

I lower my pace.

I walk more relaxed.

I look up and notice my surroundings.

I keep my energy high.

I used to say, “I’m not in a rush.”

But it’s like they teach us when we make classroom rules, it’s better to use affirmatives instead of negatives. Like “Walk” instead of “Don’t Run.”

So my new mantra is simply:

Slowly, Slowly.
